Marco La Rosa’s work moves between conceptual research, material experimentation, and references to classical and philosophical traditions. His artworks explore the tension between control and chance, presence and absence, structure and fluidity, transforming every material into a vehicle for complex meanings. From painting to sculpture, from geometric monochromes to site-specific installations, La Rosa experiments with both concrete and industrial materials—cement, metals, wood, neon—as well as with color and form in an abstract sense. The interaction between the artist’s entire body, the surface, and the surrounding space gives his works a tactile, almost sculptural presence, making the creative process an integral part of the aesthetic experience.
La Rosa draws inspiration from classical literature and philosophy, rereading myths, epic journeys, and human stories through a contemporary sensibility. Themes of travel, the search for an ideal destination, and the transformation of the journey into a formative experience recur throughout his practice, both in explicit references to the Odyssey and in reflections on knowledge, history, and humanity’s relationship with the world.
